ABOUT OUR JAZZ CLASSES
Each class is designed to give your son/daughter the best training available. The classes are divided into three parts:
Part I The warm up and flexibility training
During this time, we get all of the muscles warmed-up, work on flexibility and strength, especially the stomach muscles!
Part II Across the floor
During this time, we practice combinations of movement across the floor. These are basic moves that will be used in up-coming choreographed dances.
Part III The Dance Combination (Choreography)
The last part of the class is the dance combination or choreography. We combine the moves learned in Part II into a dance with music. Each week we build on the previously learned choreography. The finished piece will be performed by the students during the concerts.
HOW TO HELP YOUR CHILD AT HOME
You can help your child practice at home. Everyday, each child can work on flexibility. Stretching out the muscles, practicing the splits and jumps, and doing CRUNCHES will develop the stomach muscles. Strong stomach muscles are key to the development of a dancer. Play music and let your child "free style" dance to work on rhythm. "Work out" with your child to show your support and to have fun together. Have your child show you what he/she learned in class.
