GABBY SABLAN

HIP HOP INSTRUCTOR

Gabby has been dancing since age 8 and is currently teaching Hip Hop at the SKIP Entertainment Company. In addition to teaching, she is a full-time student at the University of Guam, majoring in communications following the mass media and journalism track. She plans on pursuing a career in the design field. Although joining SKIP started as an activity to get her out of the house, she has developed a genuine passion for it throughout the years. Because of dance, Gabby is grateful for the things she has learned, place she has travelled to and the long lasting friendships she has created.

MICHELLE ESPERON

MANAGER

Michelle first started dancing with SKIP in 1999. As an influence to her younger brother, Brian Esperon who decided to join dance two years later. Since then, SKIP has become a big part of the Esperon family. In 2005, she became a SKIP Alumni and has continued to assist with both the officer and off-island competitions. Michelle graduated from the University of Guam, majoring in education and fine arts. When she is not working or helping at SKIP, she is serving your favorite beverage or snack 36,000 fee in the air as she loves being a flight attendant and travelling the world. Michelle is commonly known as “Auntie Chelle” and a “cool mom” to her beautiful daughter, Mia and looks forward to the next 20 years with SKIP!

CHARDONNAY NAONE

TUMBLING INSTRUCTOR

Chardonnay was born and raised on Oahu. She was a competitive gymnast for five years. After moving to Oregon in 2016, she became a coach for the sport she loves. She taught beginner and intermediate gymnastics for OGA. Her next move was to Guam where she is loving teaching at the SKIP Entertainment Company. She loves seeing the progress in each and every class.

NATHAN LIZAMA

JAZZ FUNK INSTRUCTOR/ASSISTANY OFFICE MANAGER

Nathan is a graduate of both Notre Dame High School and the University of Guam. He began dancing at SKIP in 2002 and became an alumni in 2014. Since then, he has continued to work with SKIP as an instructor and assisting with the administration. Over the years he’s been with SKIP, he has learned from many choreographers of stylistic backgrounds, ranging from modern/contemporary mover, Erica Sobol to Hip Hop Dancer Cameron Lee. He has also traveled across the world to compete with SKIP’s touring group and has won various titles with the team!

LAURYN FERNANDEZ

JAZZ FUNK INSTRUCTOR

Lauryn is a SKIP legacy. Her mother, Francine SAymo was a top company dancer in her younger years. Lauryn is now and alumna of SKIP and has accomplished many things alongside her team. She has participated in over 25 SKIP concerts and has competed with the SKIP Touring Company nine times, earning many trophies and awards throughout the years. She is currently balancing her busy life as a full-time college student at the University of Guam and an instructor for the Little SKIP Company Dancers and the Jazz Funk classes. Growing up at the studio, she has learned a lot from her previous instructors she is excited to share from her experiences and train the next generation of dancers.

FRAN SAYMO

JAZZ INSTRUCTOR

Fran is a former SKIP Dancer with many years of experience. She toured and competed in numerous dance competitions with SKIP represented SKIP on Star Search in the mid 90’s. She continued her passion for dance performing professionally as a showgirl and magician’s assistant for the Sandcastle Theater. She later continued her career in performing arts from behind the scenes as the production coordinator for the Baldyga Group, casting and performers. Choreographing and assisting in the artistic direction of their productions on Guam and Saipan. She also choreographed several musical productions for the Guam GATE Theater in the mid 2000’s. Francine continued to stay connected with the SKIP Entertainment Company for the past 20+ years as beginning jazz dance teacher and dance mom to 4 SKIP kids (number 5 soon!). Many of the touring company members began their dance journey with “Ms Fran”.

ASIA STAR ARIZALA

HIP HOP INSTRUCTOR

Asia, “Miss Star” started dancing at the age of 2.5 years old and now she is a university student! By the age of 6, she auditioned and made it to the SKIP Touring Company traveling and competiting in the US, Canada, Europe and Australia. She graduated from SKIP in 2019 and trained under the various choreographers SKIP brought to Guam. She also attended workshops from top choreographers in North Hollywood to broaden her style. When she moved off-island for college, she continued to dance in San Francisco, training under esteemed choreographer and Kinjaz member, Pat Cruz and his team. Though the global pandemic sent her back home to Guam, she has gained from the experience with the dancers in SKIP. She is one of two teachers for the beginner hip hop classes as well as regular choreographer for SKIP’s weekly open adult classes. She loves to teach the kids foundations and watch them grow into amazing movers!

BRIAN ESPERON

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR/CHOREOGRAPHER

Brian is a dancer/choreographer from the island of Guam. He started dancing at the age of 8 training in jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary and received his dance degree at Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles. With over 1M subscribers on YouTube and 1.5M followers on TikTok, Brian rose to internet fame as he created the viral dance trend to WAP. This dance has been done by multiple celebrities including Jack Black, Lizzo, Rose from Blackpink, Vanessa Hudgens, and Cardi B herself. Brian has been recognized by multiple news sources including Time magazine, CNN, The New York Times, NBC News, and Billboard Magazine and has been reposted by artists Nicki Minaj, Bruno Mars, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira and Ariana Grande. He has choreographed for artists such as Pia Mia and Steve Aoki and performed for Kehlani, Lil Jon and Twice. Brian is the company choreographer/instructor for SKIP Entertainment and teaches master classes throughout the US from California to New York. He has been named choreographer of the year at numerous national and international dance championships.

XANTHIA BYNOE

BALLET INSTRUCTOR

Xanthia was born and raised in the country of Belize. Xanthia was submerged in a cultural melting pot of dance, although there were many different styles of dance available to her, ballet was not one commonly taught. However, by the age of thirteen, she discovered her appreciation of the art. She decided to head to the US to audition for a spot in a college training program at Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi, where she was accepted. In college she began to merge her past training in afro Caribbean dance with ballet and modern dance. This combination of styles are apparent in her choreography. She received her BA in dance in 2010 and was conducting various dance workshops in Belize at the National Dance Company, in Mississippi and Georgia. Encouraging those who are told “it’s too late or that they won’t make” – has been and will always be a passion of hers. Xanthia has been with SKIP since 2018 and helped start the ballet program for the SKIP Entertainment Company. Since that time, she had two babies and also started a home bakery, “The Sweet Pixie.” Have fun and follow Ms. Xanthia and the sweet pixie on ig @Mahjelle_and @_thesweetpixie.

TERI AND LEE KNAPP

FOUNDERS/DIRECTORS

The SKIP Entertainment Company is a non-profit organization which was incorporated in 1983 when there were few extracurricular programs for kids. The Knapps along with Dan and Joyce McCauley created several programs so their combined 6 kids would have nurturing activities. Children’s Productions is known as the SKIP Entertainment Company. In addition to SKIP along with Chad Knapp created additional dance programs to provide dance education to kids in Australia, New Zealand, Spain and the US mainland including Source dance and Urban Empire. Source dance continues to work in conjunction with Choreographer’s Carnival out of LA to produce shows in Sydney. The focus has always been to provide opportunities for kids to excel. Teri has devoted her life to working with kids. She was a teacher and administrator for the Department of Education for 30 years. She was the GATE Academic and Visual & Performing Arts coordinator for over 20 years producing numerous musical productions. Lee who is financial director for the organization, has been the controller for various law firms and car dealerships since the 1980’s. They have three grown sons, three daughter-in-laws, three grandsons and four granddaughters. They both agree the best part of the SKIP Entertainment Company is watching these kids grow up to be successful adults who are doctors, nurses, attorneys, teachers, business owners, entrepreneurs and fabulous parents.
